Aurora Aksnes born June 15th, 1996 in Stavanger and professionally referred to as Aurora or, sometimes, stylized as AURORA is a Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Katy Perry, who endorsed the track Runaway through her music, gave it some more recognition. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical experiences include discovering an instrument hidden in her attic and discovering the music it created. The parents of her May-Britt family and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for professional or as a pastime, but to grow. Thus, she began with her own music. Like Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her decision to begin performing her songs publicly when her mother said they might help others not gain fame through her music, but rather to help the people around them understand the significance of what they do and how they can affect the world. Her first piano lesson was when she was only six and began writing music before she reached nine. Her family didn't know that she had begun until 14. The dream was never to be Aurora. She claims that she simply likes to write songs. She claims that music is her favorite way to feel anything.
